Wesley Bevan is an orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in the treatment of foot and ankle problems in both children and adults. He is a consultant surgeon at Mercy Hospital and Dunedin Public Hospital.
Wesley has recently moved to Dunedin from Auckland where he worked at Middlemore, Ormiston, and MercyAscot hospitals.
He trained in medicine and surgery at the University of Auckland, graduating in 1995. He completed house officer and registrar years in a number of hospitals throughout New Zealand, completing his specialist/FRACS training in 2003. Sub-specialist training involved children’s orthopaedics at Starship Children’s hospital and Seattle Children’s Hospital, and foot and ankle surgery at Harbourview Medical Center in Seattle. He then returned to Auckland where he has worked at Middlemore Hospital for the last 11 years, and maintained a busy private practice.
Wesley has active involvement in under- and post-graduate university and clinical teaching, and also is a frequent attendee and speaker at local and international meetings.
He is a member of the New Zealand and American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Societies, the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association, the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the New Zealand Paediatric Orthopaedic Society.
